Hello, world! šŸŒ

ā€œHello, worldā€ is a common first program when learning to code, typically just a line or two that displays ā€œhello, worldā€ to ensure everything is set up correctly. It felt like a fitting title for my first blog post (a reflex from the old programmer in me, I guess).

So, why a blog?

Good question! Let’s be real; no one will read this (except my wife). I can practically hear the sound of crickets chirping as I'm typing this. Disregarding that sad fact, here’s why I’m starting a blog:

  • Writing is supposed to be good for you (or so I hear).
  • It helps me learn.
  • It’s a place to collect ideas and concepts I find interesting.
  • I can use it like a game dev diary.

Why in English?

Since I’m a Swede, writing in Swedish would make sense. I chose English, though, because it’s the go-to language in the gaming world. Most of the podcasts, books and resources I follow are in English and even local game events here in Sweden often draw non-Swedish speakers, so we all end up speaking English anyway.

What’s next?

This blog and this new website mark a new chapter for Babard Games. I’m launching the site with just one blog post (not counting this one), but more content is on the way! I plan to maintain a game dev diary for my next game, which will be featured on the blog.

And that’s it for this post! If you’ve read this far, I’m impressed and hereby bestow upon you a free copy of one of my games! Just email me at anton@babard.com to claim it. Quick note: I can only ship within the EU and there’s only one game up for grabs, so act fast!
